Ánima organized
the commemoration of the International Animal Rights Day. A demo
in Buenos Aires (Argentina capital) and a candle-light vigil in Mar
del Plata city were holden on the day before, December 9.
In
Buenos Aires, the protest took place at Lanari Institute, dependent
from The University of Buenos Aires where animals are used in biomedical
research. The activists exhibiting posters went over the place and
leaflets were distributed to the public.
An ex-neighbour to whom his dog was stolen and luckily recovered
from the Institute, told the protesters that the Lanari´s
workers denied him to have had his dog there.
In Mar del Plata city the protesters held a candle-light vigil at the gate of The Veterinary Municipal Department situated on the corner of Rivadavia and Dorrego street where homeless companion animals are killed.
Some employees and a security guard stayed there some minutes to “control” the event. A local TV channel covered the vigil which was on the TV news on 10th December and also a very good article was published by a local paper.
