International Animal Rights Day 2005

Paths
Some impressions and expressions
of Ánima.

On Saturday 10th December 2005, Ánima organized an event to commemorate the International Animals Rights Day in front of the Japanese Garden in Buenos Aires city.
Ánima set up an information table addressed to the general public that had the purpose of raising conscience about the aberrant state of exploitation, cruelty, killings and the lack of consideration about the basic interests of the non-humans as sintient creatures and how to be part of the solution to eliminate it.

The delivery of brochures was supported with educative posters. With the presence of animal rights activists from Latin America and Europe, the Vegan Branch Party donated by the group “Reinarás-Vegetarianismo Itinerante” in behalf of Ánima, joined to the information table. Varied menu and vegetal brews with the incomparable taste of the Recetas para comer sin cuchillo. (Recipes to eat without knife)

After the opening speech about why and how to respect other sintient creatures and the significance of this day, an amazing Kung Fu exhibition directed by Ariel Rodríguez Bosio from The School of Ecologist Dragons took place at the event. Jorge Moreno distributed Happy New Year cards showing the image of his dog’s face in serigraphy with a message: “Like this sensitive and authentic look, I wish you your life will be like this next year”.

At the end of the event after more than 4 hours Ánima made a call for all the animals unfairly slaved in the planet in front of the Vegan Peace flag which endorses all the people that fight for a fairer world. It was a windy and intense day. But the flag waved firm, secure and vital like our convictions, under the impressing December sky in Buenos Aires.
